Street fashion photography is portraiture in the moment. At any provided time, there are hundreds or even thousands of people today in the streets exactly where you reside, all subjects waiting to be captured. For me, street photography has graduated from an art to an obsession. Everywhere I go I see prospective subjects, their one of a kind aesthetic and really feel, though assessing each lighting conditions and frame.
To commence as a street photographer all you have to have is a camera. That is how I did it. For a though I wanted to get into style photography, started assisting major level photographers (a thing I nevertheless do), and looked into investing in lights and a studio space. The operational requires of style photography demand thousands of dollars in gear, time, a story, clothing, makeup, hair, models, and a place, if not various areas. These shoots take so a great deal time and work to set up, though all I definitely want to do is photograph. What other decision did I have, but take it to the street?
The initially rule of street fashion photography: go with your gut. The Sartorialist, Facehunter, and Bill Cunningham all do this. Bill Cunningham is quite candid about saying he does not "say" a thing, he lets the streets inform him. So never spend any consideration to trends or celebrities, and just get oneself out there and let the people today in the street inform you. If you like fashion, shoot street fashion. But, to be genuine is vital for a photographer, in particular any photographer interested in style. If you know what you worth, when you shoot you will commence to set oneself apart, defining your personal sensibility. Emulate any one, unless it really is some technical master line Henry Cartier Bression, and you happen to be doomed.
So, get a camera, even an iPhone and set oneself up with an instagram. Or you could get a Google Blogspot, and take images with a point and shoot. A manual camera with interchangeable lenses, DSLR and Lightroom + Photoshop is a classic digital setup and will make the most experienced top quality images, but there are no tough quickly guidelines. The major photographs are taken with the camera you have on you. A fantastic eye beats hardware any day. As for me, I shoot with a Canon 7D and a 24 mm major lens. This lets me get proper up close and own with my subject. I really feel like I am part of the action, not some distant observer.
Thanks for reading. A lot more to come!
